Easter. Restoration. The power of God's love. That's what drives us here at Hope Ministries. When men, women and children come to us, they are hungry for so many things--food, but also love, compassion and guidance. Here are two stories of lives changed thanks to the Hope of Easter . . .

"I was tired. I was excited. I was ready!"

When Jessica felt her baby kick inside her, she knew she had to change her destructive ways. "I was using alcohol and smoking weed every day," she says. "I didn't want to live that lifestyle anymore." She came to our Hope Center for Women and Children where she learned she is worthy of God's love . . . and that knowledge is transofrming her life.

"The staff are like mentors and friends and mother figures to me," she shares, adding that they've taught her she can be loved and love others without using alcohol. Today, she has a healthy baby boy, has learned to drive a car for the first time, and is well on her way to being a responsible, self-sufficient mother.

"The answer to everything is God."

Emil lost everything because of his meth addiction--his loved ones, his car, his job and his health. "Either I was going to stop or I was going to die," he says. Finally, sitting in the basement of his litter-strewn house, where the utilities had been shut off, he prayed. Then he came to Hope Ministries and joined our long-term life recovery program.

"Here I get to learn about God and consistently pray, so that's giving me the solution to everything in my life right now," he says. He's also encouraged by the compassion and guidance of our staff. "When I leave I will be in the best shape mentally, spiritually and physically to be sent out into the world again."

People like Jessica and Emil have learned that the power of the cross is where hunger ends and hope begins.
